LEGO fans in Newcastle – Discovery Brick Show 2025
Another weekend in Newcastle is over! Thanks to all who attended our Discovery Brick Show in Newcastle this past weekend, featuring models from builders across the UK, plus our usual range of trade stands and activities.
Discovery Brick Show 2025 saw over 2,000 visitors pass through the doors of Discovery Museum in Newcastle upon Tyne, with displays including vintage LEGO collections, a giant LEGO model of Ana from Frozen, and a lot of flamingos!
Best MOC at Discovery Brick Show 2025
This year, we asked our visitors in sessions on the Saturday what their favourite LEGO model at the show was, and we had a tight race between the Ed’s brilliant LEGO railway station with arched roof, and Jonathan and Jules’ vintage LEGO town display. Jonathan and Jules’ vintage LEGO town scored victory, with visitors loving the interactive level crossing, and house on “fire”.
Best flamingo
Our new collaborative used LEGO’s relatively recent 3 in 1 Creator flamingo set as a basis, with members customising theirs. Simon’s brilliant punk flamingo took top prize, followed by Joe’s Fabuland Flamingo and Suz’ lovely floral flamingo.

Most seated LEGO minifigures
We like to include a trophy for which a winner can only be decided on the day, and the first of these for Discovery Brick Show in 2025 was our “most seated minifigures”. The winner with the largest number of seated LEGO minifigures was Rob Gray’s Strongest Man display, just beating Ed’s station model and Jules’ and Jonathan’s’ vintage town display.
Worst travelled model
Another of our random trophies was our “worst travelled model” – the display that, in our view, had perhaps travelled in more pieces than was intended. Caz’s lovely New Hashima display reluctantly took this title – but the result was worth it, with stunningly detailed futuristic cityscapes including a whole lot of lighting!

Thank you and next event
Thanks again to all of our wonderful volunteers, exhibitors, and traders, as well as museum staff – we hope you enjoyed the event if you did visit!
Our next club event will be Darlington Brick Show (tickets on sale now!) on 12 – 13th July 2025.
