LEGO Death Star live build at Shildon Brick Show 2025

For those of you who visited Shildon Brick Show this year, you may have spotted our live build station of the new LEGO Death Star set.

The set was kindly gifted to us by LEGO (thank you!), and they asked us to live build the set to support its launch here in the UK.  A huge thanks go to Tris, who coordinated the live build over the weekend, and to Mark who helped us to livestream the progress.

The stats – LEGO Death Star live build

Here are some of the key statistics from our LEGO Death Star live build at Shildon:

  • The model has 9023 LEGO pieces and 38 minifigures, so we needed to build around 750 pieces an hour as a minimum – or a very speedy 12.5 pieces per minute!
  • We gave ourselves 12 hours – the public opening hours of the show – to complete the model
  • 24 Brick Alley members worked in one hour shifts, two at a time
  • We completed the model in 11 hours and 45 minutes – just 15 minutes short of our deadline!

Our “most Death Star built” trophy went to Jack and Matt K, who built an amazing 10 and a half bags in their hour shift!
