Shildon Brick Show 2025 - LEGO fan event in North East England

Shildon Brick Show 2025 – a weekend of LEGO fun in North East England

Another weekend at Shildon Brick Show has flown by! As our club’s flagship event in North East England every year, it’s a highlight in our calendars every year.

A big thank you to everyone who visited, and a special thanks to our exhibitors, traders, volunteers, and Locomotion staff who make the weekend happen. The show is a big team effort each year, and with 125 exhibitors and volunteers this year, our biggest Shildon Brick Show yet! We had just over 5000 visitors for the weekend.

Our trophy winners at Shildon Brick Show

As usual in recent years, we provide trophies which our participants can win and display with pride on their mantelpiece (or in a box to forget about until next year!).

The best model trophy at Shildon Brick Show 2025 went to Jamie Ellis’ Locomotion No. 1 – very fitting for our event in a railway museum in 2025, the year we’ve celebrated 200 years of the modern railway. Thank you to Sarah from Locomotion museum for picking a winner – a very hard task indeed!

The novelty first sign up trophy event went to Amy Henery who volunteered on the minifigure hunt team all weekend, beating event the organisers of the show to sign up.

Another novelty trophy was the Best Shildon Newcomer which went to Simon Pickard and his amazing American history landscape – he journeyed all the way from Devon to display this year and we’re very grateful he did!

Most Raffle Tickets Folded for our exhibitor raffle went to Jess Foster who helped run our activities all weekend!

Our Best Token trophy went to Henry Ayling with his Locomotion No. 1 token. These tokens are small models built from LEGO bricks that our exhibitors and volunteers swap and give away as a “token” of their appreciation for their favourite models at an event. You can read more about LEGO tokens at exhibitons here. Henry travelled from near Brighton to exhibit at the event this year, and his Locomotion No. 1 token was a great fit for our event in the museum this year!

The Smallest MOC (custom LEGO model) trophy went to Stephen Edmond and his brilliant Thunderbirds micro models.

Finally, the trophy for Most Death Star Built went to Matt Kirby and Jack Horner who built 10 bags out of 80+ of the Death Star in just one hour (even if they did get a sticker upside down!).

Our LEGO Death Star live build

New for the event this year was a large live build provided by LEGO themselves (thank you!) – the latest LEGO 74419 Death Star model. With 9023 parts and 38 minifigures, it was going to be a challenge to completed it during our show hours on Saturday and Sunday, but Tris and his trusty team of builders from Brick Alley succeeded in 11 hours and 45 minutes, averaging a rapid 12 – 13 parts per minute of building!

Thanks again to all who took part this year, and we hope to announce dates for Shildon Brick Show 2026 soon!
